The Greenlee 615 is sized for 3 inch IMC and rigid conduit. EMT of the same trade size has a different inside diameter, so the foam body will not seal the same way. If you're fishing 3 inch EMT, use the piston built for EMT rather than this one - the seal is what makes a blower or vacuum system pull the line, and a loose piston just stalls in the run.
2) Do I need anything besides the piston to fish a conduit run?
Yes. The 615 piston is the carrier only. You supply the blower or vacuum power fishing unit, the pioneer line or fish twine that ties to the steel rod loop, and the pull rope and cable grip for the actual cable pull. The piston does no work on its own - it exists to get that first light line through the run.
