Allied Tube & Conduit SC300-ICRKON – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Does the Allied Tube & Conduit SC300-ICRKON connector work with rigid conduit or only EMT?
It's an EMT set screw connector, sized for 3 inch electrical metallic tubing. Set screw fittings grip the outside of the tube, so they are for EMT only. Rigid or IMC needs a threaded fitting, not a set screw connector.
2) Do I still need to install a plastic bushing with this 3 inch EMT connector?
No. The SC300-ICRKON comes with an insulated throat built in, so the conductor bearing surface is already protected as wire is pulled through. No separate insulating bushing is required at that termination.
3) Can I use this EMT set screw connector in a concrete pour?
It is concrete tight when taped. Tape the joint per the fitting's rating before the pour; untaped, a set screw connector is not rated concrete tight. For wet or damp locations you want a raintight compression connector instead.
4) Is the set screw on the 3 inch Allied EMT connector a hex head or a tri-head?
At 3 inch it's a hex head screw. Allied uses hex head screws on 2-1/2 inch through 4 inch fittings and pre-set, staked tri-head screws on the 1/2 inch through 2 inch sizes, so your crews will want a hex driver or wrench for this one rather than a screwdriver.
5) Is this connector steel or die cast zinc?
The SC300-ICRKON is built with heavy steel walls, which is what commercial and institutional specs usually call for on larger trade sizes where die cast fittings can crack under wrench torque.
