Metallics DT3GL – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Is the DT3GL tape the detectable type that a utility locator can pick up, or plain warning tape?
It is the detectable version. Detectable underground tape carries a metallic core so an inductive locator above grade can trace the buried line, where plain non-detectable polyethylene tape only serves as a visual warning when someone digs down to it. If your gas run is non-metallic pipe and you need it traceable later, the detectable tape is the one to bury.
2) What utility is the Metallics DT3GL tape marked for?
Gas line. It is printed for buried gas service, so do not substitute it over water, sewer, or electrical runs. Those need their own color and legend so the next crew that opens the trench reads the right utility. Metallics builds the DT3GL as the gas-line roll in its detectable tape line.
