Viega 32805 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What fittings do I use to connect Viega PureFlow PEX tubing?
PureFlow is Viega's PEX system, and it is built around Viega PureFlow press connections with a stainless or copper crimp ring over the tubing onto a barbed PEX fitting. Match the fitting and ring to the 3/8 inch tubing size, and use the Viega tool jaw sized for 3/8 inch. The tubing itself ships as bare coil with no fittings or rings included.
2) Does the red color on this Viega PEX mean it is only for hot water?
Red is a color code for hot-water runs, not a different material. Viega 32805 is standard PureFlow PEX tubing in 3/8 inch, and plumbers typically use red for hot and blue for cold so the lines can be identified at the manifold and at the fixture. If you are stocking both sides of a job, order the matching blue coil in the same 3/8 inch size.
3) Is this PEX or PEX-AL-PEX? I need to know before I buy the tool.
The material is PEX, straight cross-linked polyethylene tubing, not a multilayer aluminum-core PEX-AL-PEX. That matters for tooling and for fitting selection: PEX-AL-PEX uses its own press fittings and jaws and the two are not interchangeable.
4) Is Viega 32805 PEX made in the USA? I have a domestic sourcing requirement.
Yes. Viega 32805 PureFlow PEX tubing is made in the USA, which is what public and institutional buyers with domestic-content language in their specs need on the submittal.
5) Can I use this red PEX for a radiant floor loop?
Viega 32805 is PureFlow PEX, Viega's potable plumbing line, and at 3/8 inch by 500 feet it is sized for fixture supply runs. Radiant heating loops are normally run with Viega's hydronic PEX tubing with an oxygen barrier, since a barrier-free potable tube lets oxygen diffuse into a closed heating system. For floor heat, specify a barrier tubing instead.
6) How do I order Viega PureFlow 3/8 inch red PEX by part number?
Order it as Viega part number 32805. That number is the 3/8 inch by 500 foot red PureFlow PEX coil, so if a distributor or purchasing system asks for the manufacturer part, 32805 covers size, length, and color in one call-out.
