Metallics TL38 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What size cable bundle does the Metallics TL38 cable wrap handle?
The TL38 is the 3/8 inch twist-style cable wrap. The 3/8 inch size refers to the wrap's bundle capacity, so it is the one to grab for organizing small bundles of low-voltage, control, or branch circuit conductors rather than large feeder runs.
2) What is the difference between a twist-style cable wrap and cable ties for bundling wire?
A twist-style wrap like the Metallics TL38 spirals around the bundle along its length, so it holds the conductors together over a run and can be opened to add or remove a wire. A cable tie clamps at one point and has to be cut off to change the bundle. For a panel or j-box where circuits get added later, the reusable twist wrap saves rework; for a permanent single-point cinch, a tie is the simpler choice.
3) Is the Metallics TL38 cable wrap nylon or metal?
Nylon. The TL38 twist-style wrap is a nylon spiral, so it will not scuff conductor insulation the way a metal band can, and it can be unwound and reused when a bundle is re-pulled or added to.
