3M Cold Shrink QT-III Termination Kit

The QT-III cold shrink terminations seal to tape shield, wire shield and UniShield power cables, and they form a void-free seal on all three shield styles. That covers most medium voltage distribution cable you will find in a switchgear or transformer termination, so you do not need a different kit per shield construction.

Indoor. The 7624-T-110 kit is specified for indoor applications and ships with non-skirted terminations, which is why it is not the choice for an outdoor pothead where you want skirts to manage moisture and contamination tracking.

One kit contains three non-skirted, one-piece cold shrink terminations, so a single kit terminates one three-phase circuit. Each termination goes on a single conductor. The kit is packaged one kit per case, so one order line covers one three-phase termination point, not both ends of a feeder.

Yes. No lug or stem connector is supplied in the kit, so the compression lug sized to your conductor has to be bought on its own line. Plan that into the material list before the crew goes out, along with cable prep abrasives and a cleaning solvent.

Neither. The QT-III kit is supplied without a breakout boot and without insulation rejacketing components. If your installation calls for a three-phase breakout boot at the point where the triplex separates, that is a separate item.

Cold shrink goes on with no torch and no flame permit, which matters in an energized switchgear room or an occupied building. The QT-III terminations are one-piece and pre-stretched, so the installer slides them into position and unwinds the core. Insulation is non-tracking molded silicone rubber, and a high dielectric-constant stress control material regulates the electric field at the shield cutback rather than relying on a separately applied stress cone tape.
