Metallics CT1UVB – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Is the Metallics CT1UVB cable tie rated for outdoor use?
The CT1UVB is a 4 inch black weather resistant nylon cable tie, and the black UV formulation is what makes it the one to use outdoors or in sunlit runs. Natural nylon ties chalk and snap after sun exposure; the black UV stabilized version is the standard choice for exterior conduit runs, rooftop equipment, and anywhere the bundle sees daylight.
2) What size bundle will a 4 inch cable tie actually close around?
At 4 inches overall length, the CT1UVB is a small tie meant for light bundles, think a few low voltage conductors, a pair of THHN runs, or dressing device wires in a box. The usable loop is a fraction of that overall length, so for bundling larger feeder groups or strapping to conduit you want a longer tie in the same black UV nylon.
3) Is the Metallics CT1UVB made in the USA?
Yes, the CT1UVB is USA made nylon. That matters if you are supplying a job with domestic sourcing language in the spec, Buy American provisions on federal and institutional work, or a utility standard that calls for domestic hardware.
4) What part number do I order for the Metallics black UV cable tie?
Order it as Metallics CT1UVB. That single model covers the 4 inch black weather resistant UV nylon tie, so there is no size or color option to specify when you place the order.
