Metallics CDC412 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What size is the Metallics CDC412 drop cloth?
The CDC412 is a 4 by 12 canvas duck drop cloth. That long, narrow shape suits runway coverage along a wall, a hallway, or a row of fixtures rather than covering a whole room floor.
2) Is the CDC412 drop cloth made of canvas or plastic?
It's canvas duck, a woven cotton cloth, not a poly film. Canvas duck lies flat, stays put underfoot, and absorbs drips instead of letting them bead and run, which is why electricians and painters use it over a plastic sheet on finished floors and stair treads.
3) What part number do I order for the Metallics 4 x 12 canvas drop cloth?
Order Metallics CDC412. That single model number covers the 4 by 12 canvas duck cloth, with no finish, color, or size options to specify.
4) I need to cover a full room floor during a lighting retrofit, is a 4 x 12 drop cloth enough?
Not for a full room. At 4 by 12 the CDC412 covers a strip, so it's meant for work along a wall, under a single fixture run, or as a path from the door to the work area. For broad floor protection, lay multiple cloths side by side with the edges overlapped, or step up to a wider cloth.
5) Can one canvas duck drop cloth be reused on multiple jobs?
Yes. Canvas duck is a woven cotton cloth, so the CDC412 can be shaken out, folded, and carried to the next job rather than thrown away like a film sheet. That's the usual reason MRO and property maintenance crews stock canvas over plastic.
