Metallics CWFL400 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What is the Metallics CWFL400 drain spade used for and how long is it?
The CWFL400 is a 47 inch drain spade with a fiberglass handle. The narrow, rounded spade blade is the shape used for digging and cleaning out trenches, so on a job it is the tool for pulling a conduit or cable trench to depth and squaring the bottom rather than moving bulk soil.
2) What part number do I order for the Metallics 47 inch fiberglass drain spade?
Order Metallics CWFL400. That is the manufacturer part number for the 47 inch drain spade with the fiberglass handle, and it is a single configuration, so there is no length or handle option to specify with it.
3) Does the Metallics CWFL400 drain spade have a wood or fiberglass handle?
Fiberglass. The 47 inch CWFL400 drain spade is built with a fiberglass handle rather than wood, which is what crews specifying for electrical trenching usually want since fiberglass does not swell, rot, or split the way a wood handle does.
