Metallics CTSUV5 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Is the Metallics CTSUV5 cable tie rated for outdoor use?
Yes. The CTSUV5 is a weather resistant, UV stabilized black nylon cable tie, which is the construction used for exterior runs, rooftop conduit, and anything exposed to sunlight. Black UV nylon resists the embrittlement that takes standard natural-color indoor ties apart after a season outside.
2) Should I use a UV black nylon tie or a standard natural nylon tie?
Natural nylon ties are fine inside a panel, a ceiling cavity, or anywhere out of daylight. Once the bundle sees sun, use the UV stabilized black version like the Metallics CTSUV5, which is made for weather exposure. Sunlight is what kills non-UV nylon, so the distinction matters on rooftops, exterior walls, parking structures, and open-air mechanical yards.
3) What is the Metallics part number for the 5 inch UV black cable tie?
Order it as Metallics CTSUV5. That is the manufacturer part number for the 5 inch weather resistant black UV nylon cable tie, and it is the number to quote when matching what is already on the job.
