1) What size hex key do I need to drive the Metallics JSHC638 socket head cap screw?
The JSHC638 is internally wrenched with a hex drive, and the socket depth is 0.064 in. For a 6-32 socket head cap screw the drive is a 7/64 in. hex key, which is the standard size for that diameter. Because the wrenching is internal rather than across a hex head, you only need clearance for a 0.218 to 0.226 in. head width instead of a wrench swing around the fastener.
2) Will a 6-32 socket head cap screw thread into my existing tapped hole?
The JSHC638 is a 6-32 UN thread at 32 threads per inch, so it mates with any hole tapped 6-32 UNC. Thread length is the full 3/8 in. shank length, which means your tapped depth needs to be at least that or the screw will bottom out before the head seats.
3) Is a socket head cap screw stronger than a Grade 5 or Grade 8 hex head of the same size?
