Progress Lighting P8008-60 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Will the Progress Lighting P8008-60 trim fit my existing 6 inch recessed can?
The P8008-60 is a 6 inch trim built for Progress Lighting 6 inch housings, specifically the P87, P187, P83 and P88 series. The flange measures 7.75 inches in diameter, so it covers the ceiling cutout around a nominal 6 inch can. If your housings are another Progress series or another brand entirely, confirm the housing series before ordering, because trim clip and flange geometry differ between families.
2) Can this Progress Albalite trim be used inside a shower?
Yes. The P8008-60 carries a Shower trim classification and is Wet Location Listed, UL-CUL. That covers a shower enclosure, a tub surround, or a covered exterior soffit. The flat Albalite glass lens seals the opening, which is what makes the wet rating possible. The housing above it also has to be rated for the same location, so check the can's label.
3) Does this Progress trim meet California Title 24 or JA8 requirements?
Not Title 24 and not JA8. The P8008-60 does carry Title 20 compliance. It is also not Energy Star certified and is not classified as an energy efficient fixture, which follows from it being an incandescent-type trim. For a Title 24 bathroom in California you will need a JA8-listed source in the housing.
4) Does the P8008-60 recessed trim come with a bulb?
No lamp is included. The P8008-60 ships as trim only, an incandescent-type trim running on a 120V hardwired circuit through the housing. Order lamps separately to whatever wattage the housing label permits, and note that shower trims are usually the place where an over-wattage lamp gets caught at inspection.
5) I'm re-trimming bathrooms across an apartment building. How does this trim ship and what do I get in a box?
The Albalite shower trim is cartoned 6 each, which suits multi-unit turns where you are doing a stack of bathrooms at a time. Each trim weighs 0.9 lb, so a full carton is light enough to carry up with the rest of the punch list material. Mounting hardware for an outlet box is not part of it, since the trim mounts into an existing ceiling housing rather than to a box.
6) Can I install the P8008-60 shower trim in a sloped ceiling or point it sideways?
No. It is a ceiling-mount trim for a recessed housing and it cannot be mounted up or down, so it is a flat, downlight-only application. For a sloped or angled ceiling you need a trim built for that housing type instead.
7) Can I use this trim outdoors under a porch or covered patio?
Yes, in a covered location. The wet location listing covers exposure to moisture and direct water, so a covered soffit, porch ceiling, or pool or spa area works as long as the housing is likewise rated for the exterior. The white plastic body will not corrode the way a metal trim does in humid or chlorinated air. It has no dusk to dawn control and is not Dark Sky compliant, so any switching or timing is on the circuit side.
8) Is the Progress P8008-60 a metal trim or plastic?
Non-metallic. The flange and body are white plastic, which is the point in a wet location: no corrosion or rust streaking where a painted steel trim would eventually bleed. The lens is flat Albalite glass. Finish is white throughout, so it disappears against a standard white ceiling.
