The Metallics CSW61 wheel has a 7/8 inch center hole, which is the standard arbor size on 4-1/2 through 6 inch right-angle grinders, so it mounts directly on a 5/8-11 spindle using the grinder's backing flange and lock nut. It is a 6 inch wheel, so your guard and grinder have to be rated for a 6 inch diameter; a 4-1/2 inch grinder with a small guard will not take it.
2) Is a .045 inch thick wheel right for cutting EMT, strut and threaded rod?
Yes. At .045 inch the CSW61 is a thin-kerf cut-off wheel, which is what electricians use on conduit, Unistrut, all-thread and small angle. The thin kerf cuts fast with less heat and less material loss, so threads stay cleaner and burrs are smaller. Use it for cutting only; a .045 inch wheel is not made for side grinding or weld dressing, and side pressure will break it.
3) What does Type 27 mean on a cut-off wheel, and should I use it instead of a flat Type 1 wheel?
Type 27 is the depressed-center (saucer) shape. The hub is recessed so the mounting nut sits below the wheel face, which gives clearance for the grinder and guard and lets you cut flush or at a shallow angle to the work. Type 1 is flat and is generally used on stationary chop saws and on grinders without the hub clearance. For handheld angle grinder cutting where you want the wheel to reach into a corner or run close to a surface, the Type 27 CSW61 is the one you want.
