The Viega 77432 is a reducing press tee sized 1 inch x 1 inch x 1/2 inch. The run is 1 inch on both ends and the branch outlet steps down to 1/2 inch, so it is the fitting for taking a 1/2 inch branch off a 1 inch copper main without adding a separate bushing or reducer.
2) Is the Viega 77432 tee copper or bronze, and can I press it onto hard copper tube?
It is a copper fitting, made for copper tube systems. All three ends are ProPress press connections, so it goes onto Type K, L or M hard copper with a press tool and the matching jaws, no solder or flux.

Smart Connect is Viega's unpressed-connection feature built into the 77432 tee. The 77432 needs no hot work permit and no dry pipe. Solder still has its place on new rough-in where a torch is allowed and you want the lowest material cost, but the press tee installs in seconds per joint and leaves nothing to clean up.
5) Do I need sealing elements or gaskets separately for the Viega 77432?
No separate gaskets to order. Each of the three ProPress sockets on the 77432 comes with its sealing element already installed. What you supply is the press tool and the correct jaws, plus a deburred, properly cut and marked tube end.
6) Can I use this copper ProPress tee on PEX or on steel pipe?
No. The 77432 is a copper-to-copper press fitting, so it is for copper tube only. PEX takes Viega's PureFlow line and steel pipe takes the MegaPress family, both of which use different sealing elements and jaws.
