Viega 79370 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What connections does the Viega 79370 ProPress adapter have?
The 79370 is a P x FPT adapter: one end is a 2 inch ProPress crimp socket for copper tube, the other is 2 inch female NPT pipe thread. It takes you from a pressed copper run into male-threaded pipe, a valve nipple, or a threaded equipment connection.
2) Is the Viega 79370 ProPress adapter safe for potable water lines?
It is a zero lead bronze body, which is what puts it in potable water service alongside the rest of the ProPress bronze line. Bronze also suits it to hydronic and mechanical piping where a copper-to-thread transition is needed.
3) What does Smart Connect on this Viega press adapter actually do for me on the job?
Smart Connect is Viega's unpressed-connection feature: an unpressed fitting leaks visibly during pressure test so you find the joint you missed before the wall closes. On a 2 inch line that is the difference between a test-day catch and a callback.
