Metallics CT8UV – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Is the Metallics CT8UV cable tie rated for outdoor use?
The CT8UV is a weather resistant, UV stabilized black nylon cable tie, so it is made for outdoor and sunlight exposed runs where a standard natural nylon tie would chalk and get brittle. Black with UV inhibitor is the standard choice for exterior conduit runs, rooftop equipment, and site lighting.
2) Are Metallics CT8UV cable ties made in the USA?
Yes. The CT8UV is a USA made nylon cable tie, which matters on federal, military, and other domestic sourcing jobs where the spec calls for US manufactured material.
3) Can I use a black UV cable tie indoors too, or do I need a separate indoor tie?
A UV stabilized black nylon tie like the CT8UV works fine indoors as well as out, so many contractors and MRO stockrooms carry only the black UV version and skip stocking the natural indoor tie. The UV package adds nothing that hurts an interior application.
