Viega V90020 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Is the Viega 90020 MegaPress elbow stainless or carbon steel?
The 90020 elbow body is 316 stainless steel, which is the corrosion-resistant grade Viega uses for MegaPress applications where a carbon steel fitting would be attacked. It is made in Germany.
2) What does Smart Connect mean on the Viega 90020 elbow?
Smart Connect is the feature Viega builds into the MegaPress sealing element so an unpressed connection leaks visibly during pressure testing. On the 90020, that means both P1 and P2 sockets will show you a missed press before the system is put into service rather than after.
3) How heavy is a 1-1/2 inch MegaPress stainless elbow for hanger spacing?
Each 90020 elbow weighs 1.527 lbs. Light enough that a single fitting adds little to a run, but worth counting when you are stacking several turns in a manifold and sizing the support near the change of direction.
