The Viega 91210 is a press-by-thread adapter: one 3/4 inch MegaPress press end and one 1/2 inch male pipe thread (MPT). That lets you come off a pressed 3/4 inch black iron or carbon steel run and land on a 1/2 inch female threaded port, like a gauge, valve tapping, or a threaded drop.

It uses Viega's Smart Connect feature, which leaves the unpressed joint deliberately leaking during pressure testing so an uncrimped connection shows itself before the ceiling closes up. You still press with the MegaPress jaw sized to the 3/4 inch press end.
3) Do I need to thread or weld anything to install the Viega 91210?
