P x FTG means one end is a press socket that accepts 3/4 inch pipe, and the other end is a fitting (FTG) end sized to slip into another 3/4 inch press socket or fitting. That is what makes it a street elbow: you get a 90 degree turn without adding a short nipple between two fittings.
2) Is the Viega 95035 MegaPress elbow stainless or carbon steel, and what pipe does it press onto?
The 95035 elbow body is 304 stainless steel. MegaPress is Viega's press system for black iron and steel pipe, so it presses onto 3/4 inch steel pipe rather than copper. For copper tube you want ProPress, not MegaPress.
3) Will this Viega press elbow thread onto NPT pipe?
No. Both ends of the 95035 are press connections, a press socket and an FTG end, with no threads anywhere on the fitting. To get to a threaded nipple or a threaded valve you need a MegaPress press-by-male or press-by-female adapter instead.
4) What is Smart Connect on this Viega MegaPress fitting and does it change how I install it?
Smart Connect is a deliberate feature in the sealing element that lets an unpressed connection leak visibly during pressure test, so a missed joint shows itself before the wall closes. It does not change the install sequence: cut, deburr, mark insertion depth, seat the pipe fully, press once with the correct 3/4 inch jaw.
