1) How much current does the Altronix OLS75 power supply board deliver?
The OLS75 board is rated for 2.5A of output current. That is the budget you have to work with across whatever you are powering, so add up the standby and inrush draw of your locks, readers or cameras before committing to it. Strikes and maglocks in particular can pull well above their holding current at the moment they release or energize.
2) Can I mount the Altronix OLS75 inside an existing access control enclosure?
Yes, the OLS75 is sold as a bare board rather than as a boxed supply, so it is intended to drop into an enclosure you already have or one you are building up. Plan for standoffs, a means of getting AC line voltage safely into the can, and separation between the line side and the low voltage side. If you want a supply that arrives in its own housing with the AC connection already made, order a boxed unit instead.
3) Does the Altronix OLS75 board control or sequence the doors, or just supply power?
The OLS75 supplies power. It converts line AC to regulated low voltage DC and nothing more, so any door logic has to be handled by separate hardware. If you need timed release, delayed egress sequencing or bi-directional control between two leaves, look at a sequencer board such as the Command Access DS1+, or the DS1-X where you want multiple programmable functions on one board. Those boards run on 12 to 24VDC, which the OLS75 can feed.
4) My Von Duprin PS873 power supply failed - is the Altronix OLS75 the replacement board for it?
The OLS75 is a standalone offline switching supply board rated 115VAC 50/60Hz at 0.95A or 230VAC 50/60Hz at 0.6A in, 12/24VDC at 2.5A out, and it is not built to drop into a PS873 chassis. For that housing, the Command Access VD2-873 is a replacement relay board made for the Von Duprin PS873 power supply. Choose the VD2-873 when you are keeping the existing PS873 cabinet and the OLS75 when you are building or rebuilding a supply around a new board.
5) Is the Altronix OLS75 board suitable for commercial access control work?
It is a commercial-duty part, catalogued for access control power on 120V service. Typical uses are feeding electric strikes, maglocks, readers and controllers in an office, school or multi-family building. It is not a consumer plug-in adapter and expects a qualified install with a hard-wired AC feed.
6) Which of these boards can run on 230VAC for an overseas or 230V facility installation?
The Altronix OLS75 accepts either 115VAC 50/60Hz at 0.95A or 230VAC 50/60Hz at 0.6A and delivers 12 or 24VDC at 2.5A, so it covers both line voltages on one board.
