1) Is the Altronix WAYPOINT3 power supply meant for outdoor mounting?

2) Can I run the Altronix WAYPOINT3 off standard 120V building power?
Yes. The WAYPOINT3 runs on standard 120V line power, so it lands on an ordinary branch circuit at the door or gate with no step-down transformer ahead of it. Output is low voltage DC for access control devices, so the only 120V work is the feed into the enclosure.
3) Will an Altronix WAYPOINT3 power a maglock or electric strike at a gate?
That is what it is for. The WAYPOINT3 is an access power controller with power supply, meaning it feeds DC to locking hardware and access control devices from a single enclosure. It is a commercial-duty unit, not a residential plug-in adapter, so it belongs on card reader entries, gates, and perimeter openings.
4) What is the difference between the Altronix WAYPOINT3 and a small linear supply like the Command Access PS1?
Different jobs. The WAYPOINT3 is a commercial outdoor-rated power supply/charger for exterior access control runs. The Command Access PS1 is a 24VDC linear supply with a 1 amp output, and the PS204/204B is a 2A 24VDC linear supply with battery backup, both intended for indoor mounting near the opening. If you need one dedicated 24V device fed inside a building, the smaller linear units are the simpler pick; if the enclosure is going to see weather, it needs to be the outdoor unit.
5) I need multiple fused outputs to feed several doors from one enclosure. Is the WAYPOINT3 the right Altronix unit?
Only if the location is outdoors and the load is modest. For a multi-door indoor distribution panel, look at a supply built around multiple fused outputs instead, such as the RCI DKPS-2A, which provides 8 outputs at 12/24VDC and 2A. The WAYPOINT3's reason for existing is the weather resistant outdoor enclosure, not output count.
6) Is there a smaller, simpler alternative to the WAYPOINT3 for a single door?
