American Standard 7429801.243 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Will the American Standard Becklow faucet fit a 3-hole sink with 8-inch centers?
Yes. The Becklow is a widespread two-handle faucet built for a 3-hole lavatory on 8-inch centers, with the spout and the two handles mounting separately. It won't work on a single-hole sink or on a 4-inch centerset deck unless you change the sink or add a deck plate, which isn't part of this faucet.
2) Does the Becklow widespread faucet come with a drain and supply lines, or do I need to order those separately?
The kit is complete for a standard install. It ships with a pop-up drain, supply lines, Speed Connect hoses that snap together for the watertight connection, and handles that arrive pre-assembled. You still supply the stop valves and any risers needed if your rough-in doesn't match the included supplies.
3) Is the Becklow faucet lead-free and WaterSense certified for a commercial restroom spec?
Both. The Becklow is WaterSense certified for reduced water use and is compliant with national and regional lead-free regulations, which is what most institutional and multi-family specs call out for a lavatory faucet.
4) What finishes does the Becklow 7429801 faucet come in, and what are the part numbers?
Three finishes: chrome (7429801.002), brushed nickel (7429801.295), and matte black (7429801.243). If you're standardizing restrooms across a property, order by that suffix so every unit matches.
5) Is the Becklow faucet body plastic or metal?
All metal construction on the two-handle 8-inch widespread body, which is what you want in a rental or high-traffic restroom where plastic shanks and nuts tend to be the first failure point.
6) Will the Becklow drip like a compression faucet after heavy use?
It uses a ceramic disc valve rather than rubber compression washers, so there's no washer to wear out and start weeping. That's the usual reason a two-handle lavatory faucet gets pulled in a maintenance rotation.
7) Can a maintenance tech install the Becklow widespread faucet without a plumber?
It's set up for that. Handles come pre-assembled, and the Speed Connect hoses snap together instead of needing wrenched compression joints under the deck, so the work is mounting the three pieces, connecting the hoses, and setting the included pop-up drain.
