American Standard Chatfield 1.8 GPM Shower Trim Kit with Ceramic Disc Valve Cartridge and Lever Handle - AMS-7413501

This is trim only. The Chatfield 7413501 kit covers what you see on the finished wall, the escutcheon plate and the lever handle, plus the ceramic disc valve cartridge. A trim kit does not include the in-wall rough-in valve body, so on new construction or a full wall-open remodel you order the pressure balance rough-in valve as a separate line item. On a retrofit where the existing American Standard valve body stays in the wall, the trim is what you replace.

1.8 GPM. That sits under the 2.5 GPM federal showerhead maximum and under the 2.0 GPM limit that shows up on a lot of water-conservation and green-building specs, so it clears both. For multi-family or hotel projects working to a reduced-flow line on the drawing, 1.8 GPM is the number to put on the submittal.

Three: Chrome (7413501.002), Brushed Nickel (7413501.295), and Legacy Bronze (7413501.278). Chrome is the one to pick when you are matching existing commercial washrooms; Brushed Nickel and Legacy Bronze are the choices when the rest of the bath package is warm-toned or oil-rubbed. If you are standardizing across a building, order by the full suffixed part number rather than the finish name so every unit matches.

Yes, one lever handle controls both temperature and volume. That makes it a single-function shower-only trim, not a tub-and-shower diverter trim, so it is the right part for a stall shower and the wrong part if you need to divert flow to a tub spout.

The kit is the valve trim: escutcheon, lever handle, and ceramic disc cartridge. Plan on sourcing the showerhead and the shower arm with flange separately, and keep the arm and head in the same finish you order the trim in, Chrome, Brushed Nickel, or Legacy Bronze, so the wall reads as one set.

The Chatfield 7413501 uses a ceramic disc cartridge instead of a rubber-seat or compression design. Ceramic discs are the wear surface in the valve, and they are the reason a single-handle shower holds its temperature setting and does not start dripping the way a washer-based valve does after a couple of years of daily use. For property managers turning units, it means fewer drip calls and a cartridge swap rather than a valve replacement when service does come due.
