American Standard 7301242-100.0020A – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What is the American Standard 7301242-100 strainer used for?
It's the chrome plated non-metallic strainer that sits in the outlet of an American Standard urinal, catching debris before it reaches the trap. The part number to order is 7301242-100.0020A.
2) Can I use this American Standard strainer in a lavatory sink or floor drain?
No. It's specified as a urinal strainer, so the outlet geometry is built for an American Standard urinal, not a lavatory basin or a floor drain body. For a sink you want a lavatory grid or basket strainer sized to that bowl's drain opening.
3) Will this strainer fit any brand of urinal?
Treat it as an American Standard part. It's built by American Standard for their urinals, and strainer outlets differ between manufacturers, so confirm the fixture is American Standard before ordering rather than assuming it drops into a Kohler, Sloan, or Zurn bowl.
4) Is the American Standard urinal strainer metal or plastic?
Non-metallic, with a chrome plated finish, so it looks like chrome in the fixture but won't corrode the way a plated metal strainer can in a urinal's constant-wet, low-flow environment.
5) We maintain a building full of American Standard urinals - can I stock this strainer as a standard repair part?
Yes, that's exactly what it's for. It's a replacement chrome plated strainer for American Standard urinals, ordered as 7301242-100.0020A, and it's a common item to keep on the cart for washroom PM rounds since strainers get pried out, broken, or stolen.
6) Does the 7301242-100 strainer come in any finish other than chrome?
Chrome is the only finish this strainer is built in. If your washroom spec calls for brushed nickel or matte black trim, this part won't match it.
