American Standard M962055-2240A – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Will this screw cover plate work with an American Standard Town Square trim kit?
Yes. The M962055 cover plate belongs with American Standard Town Square trim kits, which are the trim sets built for the R120, R120SS, R125, R125SS, R127 and R127SS rough valve bodies. If the shower or tub trim on the wall is one of those Town Square kits, this is the matching screw cover.
2) I need a replacement part for a leaking valve, is this it?
No. This is a cosmetic cover that conceals a mounting screw on the trim. It does not stop or control water. For a leak you need the valve cartridge or stem for the R120, R125 or R127 rough valve body behind your trim, not a cover plate.
3) What is the American Standard M962055 screw cover plate actually for?
It's a small decorative cover that hides the mounting screw on American Standard faucet and bath trim, so the fastener isn't visible once the trim is set. It's a finish-piece fastener component, not a functional valve or handle part.
4) Do I need to order anything else with the M962055 cover plate to finish a Town Square trim?
Depends what's already on the wall. A complete Town Square trim package includes the metal wall escutcheon, metal lever handle, cast brass shower arm, FloWise 3-function showerhead and metal slip-on diverter tub spout, and it is supplied LESS the valve, meaning the R120, R125 or R127 rough body is a separate purchase. The M962055 cover plate on its own is just the screw cover, so order it when the rest of the trim is intact and only that piece is missing, damaged, or being changed to a different finish.
5) Can a property manager buy just the chrome cover plates in quantity to refresh units?
Yes, the chrome version M962055-0020A can be ordered on its own, which is the usual approach when the escutcheons and handles are fine but the small screw covers have gone missing or pitted across a set of units. Keep the finish consistent with the existing trim; oil rubbed bronze is the other option, M962055-2240A.
