American Standard M953061-0070A – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What does the American Standard M953061 diverter actually do?
It's a faucet diverter, the internal part that redirects water flow between outlets on an American Standard faucet, such as sending flow from the spout up to a sprayer or shower outlet. It is a replacement part rather than a complete faucet, so it goes into an existing American Standard body.
2) Will the American Standard M953061 diverter match my faucet's chrome or brushed nickel finish?
Finish isn't a consideration on this one. The M953061-0070A diverter is supplied with no decorative finish because it's an internal working part that sits inside the faucet body and isn't visible once the faucet is assembled. There is only the one version, so there's nothing to match to the trim.
3) My tub spout diverter is stuck, do I need this American Standard diverter or a whole new faucet?
For a faucet whose body and trim are sound, the diverter is usually the only failed piece, and M953061-0070A replaces just that component. Because it's a faucet diverter and not a tub spout assembly, confirm your American Standard model calls for this diverter before ordering it as a repair part.
