American Standard M909951-0020A – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Is this a full diverter valve or just the knob?
Just the knob. The M909951 is the external handle portion of the diverter, not the diverter cartridge or valve body. If water is bypassing internally or the diverter will not hold, the knob is not the fix; you need the internal diverter part instead.
2) Can I use this American Standard diverter knob on a Moen or Delta faucet?
No. It is an American Standard faucet repair part, keyed to that manufacturer's diverter stem. Diverter knobs are brand and series specific, so a Moen, Delta, or Kohler faucet needs that brand's own knob.
3) What is the American Standard M909951 diverter knob actually for?
It is the replacement diverter knob for an American Standard faucet, the small handle you pull or turn to redirect water flow. It is a faucet part, so it is what you order when the original knob is cracked, stripped, or missing rather than replacing the whole fitting.
4) I manage a building with a lot of American Standard faucets. Can I stock this knob as a standard repair item?
For chrome American Standard faucets that take the M909951 knob, yes, it is a straightforward stock item for a maintenance shelf. Match the part number to the faucet series before you buy a case, since American Standard uses different knob profiles across its lines, and remember it covers chrome trim only.
