American Standard T018507.002 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Does the American Standard Edgemere T018507 shower trim kit include the valve body?
No. The Edgemere T018507 is trim only: the lever handle, escutcheon and showerhead. It coordinates with American Standard's TRIMendous Shower Platform valve, so you need that rough-in valve behind the wall before the trim goes on. On a remodel where the existing valve is a TRIMendous body, you can change the look without opening the wall.
2) Is the Edgemere 1.8 GPM shower trim ADA compliant for a commercial or multi-family project?
Yes. The Edgemere T018507 trim is ADA Compliant, and the lever handle is the reason - it operates without tight grasping or twisting of the wrist. That makes it usable on accessible units in apartments, hotels and healthcare without a separate handle change.
3) Will a 1.8 GPM showerhead meet California and Colorado low-flow shower requirements?
The Edgemere T018507 is rated at a 1.8 gallons per minute maximum flow rate and is EPA WaterSense certified. WaterSense showerheads cap at 2.0 GPM, so 1.8 clears that threshold and also meets the 1.8 GPM state limits used in California, Colorado and New York. Useful on LEED and green-build specs where WaterSense product is required.
4) What finishes does the American Standard Edgemere shower trim kit come in?
Two: polished Chrome (T018507.002) and Legacy Bronze (T018507.278). Chrome is the one to order if you are standardizing across a building or matching existing American Standard trim; Legacy Bronze is the darker oil-rubbed style finish for residential and hospitality baths.
5) Does this Edgemere shower trim have scald protection, and can it be adjusted on site?
It includes a Hot Limit Safety Stop. That is the adjustable stop that caps how far the handle rotates toward hot, so you set the maximum outlet temperature during trim-out rather than relying on the tenant. Worth setting on every unit in student housing, senior living and hotel work.
6) Is the Edgemere shower trim metal or plastic? I keep replacing broken handles in rentals.
All metal construction. For rental turns and high-traffic openings that matters more than the finish - plastic handles and escutcheons are what crack and strip first. The lever handle here is metal, so it holds up to repeated daily use.
7) Which part number do I order for the Edgemere trim in Legacy Bronze?
Legacy Bronze is American Standard part number T018507.278. Chrome is T018507.002. Both are the same 1.8 GPM Edgemere trim kit with the lever handle, so the only decision at the order form is finish.
