American Standard M907983-0020A – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What finish does the American Standard M907983 escutcheon come in?
Chrome only. The orderable part number is M907983-0020A, where the 0020A suffix is the chrome finish. If the other trim on the faucet is brushed nickel or bronze, this plate will not match it.
2) How do I make sure I am ordering the right American Standard escutcheon for my faucet?
Order by the escutcheon number your faucet's parts diagram calls out, not by appearance. American Standard escutcheons are model specific and differ in diameter, shape, and gasket, and the chrome M907983-0020A is one specific plate. Pull the faucet's model number first, then confirm the diagram lists M907983.
3) What is American Standard part M907983 used for?
M907983 is an escutcheon for an American Standard faucet, the trim plate that covers the mounting hole or holes at the deck or wall behind the faucet body. It is a cosmetic and hole-covering part, not a valve or cartridge, so it does not affect how the faucet operates.
4) Is M907983 a repair part for a shower valve or for a faucet?
It is a faucet part. American Standard lists the M907983 escutcheon under faucet applications, so if you are chasing an escutcheon for a tub or shower valve trim, this is not the plate for that job and you should match to the shower valve's own trim kit number instead.
5) Does the M907983 escutcheon come with a faucet or just the plate?
Just the escutcheon. It is a plumbing repair and trim part, so no faucet body, cartridge, or handles are included. Property managers replacing a scratched or pitted deck plate on an otherwise good faucet are the usual buyer here.
