American Standard 8888036.243 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What is the American Standard 8888036 wall bracket used for?
It's a fixed wall bracket that holds a personal (handheld) shower head against the wall, so the hose clips into a set position rather than sliding on a bar. American Standard builds it with all metal construction, and it's intended for shower and tub applications.
2) Is the American Standard 8888036 bracket adjustable, or does it hold the handshower at one angle?
Fixed, not adjustable. The 8888036 is a fixed wall bracket, so the handshower parks in one position. If you need the user to change spray height or angle at the wall, you want a slide bar or an adjustable/pivoting wall supply elbow instead.
3) Does the American Standard 8888036 include the handshower and hose?
No. The 8888036 is mounting hardware only, the bracket that holds a personal shower at the wall. The handheld spray head and the hose are ordered separately.
4) How much wall space does the 8888036 bracket take up?
Its stated dimensions are 7.25 length, 5.25 width and 3 height in inches, and it weighs 0.287 lb. Useful check if you're mounting between a valve trim plate and a tub deck or in a tight alcove.
5) Is this American Standard bracket suitable for apartment or hotel bathrooms, or is it a residential part?
American Standard classifies the 8888036 fixed wall bracket as a residential, luxury-tier accessory. It's fine for multi-family and hospitality units finished to residential standards, but if you're specifying against a commercial hardware schedule, it isn't a commercial-rated item.
6) Will the 8888036 bracket work with a handshower from another American Standard collection?
It's a universal accessory rather than being tied to one collection, so it isn't restricted to a single family of trim. What you do need to confirm on your own end is that your handheld and hose are a standard personal shower, since that's what the bracket is built to hold, and that the finish suffix matches your existing trim.
7) Is a metal or plastic handshower bracket better for a rental property?
For turnover units, metal is the one to take. The 8888036 is all metal construction, so the arm that carries the weight of a wet handshower won't fatigue and snap the way a molded plastic cradle does after repeated use. That's the failure most property managers replace these for in the first place.
