American Standard M964977-2430A – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What finishes does the American Standard M964977 square shower bracket come in, and what are the part numbers?
Five finishes, each with its own American Standard part number: Chrome (M964977-0020A), Polished Nickel (M964977-0130A), Matte Black (M964977-2430A), Legacy Bronze (M964977-2780A), and Brushed Cool Sunrise (M964977-GN00A). If you're matching an existing trim set in a hotel or multi-family bath, order by that suffix rather than the finish name alone.
2) What is the American Standard M964977 shower bracket actually used for?
It's the wall-mount holder that supports a handshower, part of the shower and tub trim rather than the valve itself. American Standard classifies it as mounting hardware, so it's the bracket only - hose, handshower and any supply elbow are separate items.
3) I'm replacing a broken handshower holder in an apartment - do I need to buy the whole shower trim kit?
No. The M964977 is sold as a standalone square bracket, so a cracked or corroded holder can be swapped without disturbing the valve trim or the handshower itself. For a property manager standardizing a building, the same bracket in one finish covers every unit.
4) Will the square American Standard bracket match round shower trim?
It won't. The M964977 is a square-profile bracket, so it reads as a mismatch next to round escutcheons and round handshowers. Pair it with square or rectangular trim; if your existing trim is round, look for a round holder in the matching finish instead.
5) Does the M964977 bracket come with a handshower or hose?
It's the bracket alone. Nothing in the item covers the handshower, hose, or a supply elbow, so specify those separately when you're building out a tub and shower package.
