American Standard M970480-2430A – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Is the M970480 the hand shower itself or just the bracket that holds it?
It is the holder only, the wall-mounted cradle that parks a hand shower wand. The hand shower, hose, and any supply elbow are separate items. If a tenant broke the bracket off the wall and the wand is fine, this is the part to order.
2) Can the M970480 holder be used in a tub-shower combination, or is it shower only?
American Standard lists the application as shower and tub, so it suits both a standalone shower compartment and a tub/shower combo where a hand shower is used for bathing and cleaning.
3) I manage a multi-family property with mixed trim colors. Can I standardize one hand shower holder across all the units?
Yes, the M970480 holder is a single model available across six finishes, so one part number covers chrome, polished nickel, brushed nickel, matte black, legacy bronze, and brushed cool sunrise openings. You keep one part on record and change only the finish suffix per unit, which keeps replacement stock simple across a portfolio.
4) Does buying the M970480 holder get me a replacement spray head too?
No. The M970480 is the holder, and a spray head or hand shower wand has to be ordered separately, along with a hose if the old one is damaged. Buy the holder when only the wall cradle has failed.
5) How do I make sure I order the right American Standard hand shower holder finish for a warranty-style repair?
Match the suffix, not the color name. American Standard codes finish into the part number: -0020A is chrome, -0130A polished nickel, -2430A matte black, -2780A legacy bronze, -2950A brushed nickel, and -GN00A brushed cool sunrise. Reading the suffix off the existing valve trim or shower kit box is the fastest way to get an exact visual match.
