American Standard M970642-GN00A – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What exactly is American Standard M970642 - is it a complete hand shower or just the bracket?
It's the holder only. The M970642 is a hand shower holder, the wall bracket the handheld sprayer rests in. No hose, no spray head, and no hand shower is part of it, so if you're replacing a broken cradle you order this; if you need the whole handshower assembly you need a separate hand shower kit.
2) What finish does the American Standard M970642 hand shower holder come in?
One finish: Brushed Cool Sunrise, ordered as M970642-GN00A. If the rest of your trim (valve, escutcheon, hand shower) is chrome, brushed nickel or matte black, this holder won't match it, so match the suffix to the finish family already in the shower before ordering.
3) I manage apartments and need to replace a cracked hand shower cradle - can I just swap the holder without touching the valve?
Yes. A hand shower holder mounts independently of the mixing valve, so replacing the cradle alone is a trim-level swap that leaves the valve body and supply plumbing untouched. The part to specify is American Standard M970642-GN00A in Brushed Cool Sunrise. Confirm the existing holder is American Standard before swapping, since bracket mounting patterns vary by manufacturer.
