American Standard 0356421USMCA.020 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What size is the Lucerne wall-hung sink, and will it fit a narrow restroom wall?
The Lucerne measures 22.5 long by 19.5 high by 14 inches. Budget the full 22.5 inch run of wall plus clearance on each side for hands and cleaning. It is a wall-hung basin, so there is no pedestal or cabinet eating floor space, which is why it turns up in tight commercial restrooms.
2) How heavy is the Lucerne sink, and does the wall need blocking behind it?
The fixture is about 43.94 lbs empty, and it carries that load plus water and anyone leaning on the rim entirely through the wall. Plan on solid backing, a wall carrier, or a hanger bracket lagged into blocking, not drywall anchors. In a stud wall you want blocking set before the board goes up, so this is a rough-in decision, not a trim-out one.
3) What else do I need to order to install a Lucerne wall-hung sink?
The basin alone. You still need a single-hole faucet, a drain with grid or pop-up, a P-trap and supplies, and the mounting hardware: either a concealed arm carrier or a wall hanger with blocking behind it. On exposed-trap wall-hung sinks in public restrooms, ADA installations also require the trap and supplies be insulated or covered.
4) Is the Lucerne sink suitable for a commercial restroom or is it a residential fixture?
It is classed as a commercial fixture in the Lucerne family, and it is the basin you see in schools, offices, and multi-family common restrooms. Nothing stops you putting it in a residential powder room, but the styling and the exposed trap under it are built for a public washroom.
5) What finish does the Lucerne wall-hung sink come in?
White vitreous china is the only finish, sold under MPN 0356421USMCA.020. If you are matching other fixtures in the building, white is the standard American Standard commercial white and pairs with the rest of the Lucerne line.
6) Is this the Mexico-made version of the Lucerne, and does it differ from other Lucerne sinks?
Yes, this is the Made-in-Mexico Lucerne with center hole only. Dimensionally it is the standard Lucerne footprint at 22.5 by 19.5 by 14 inches, so it drops into the same wall opening as the rest of the family. The difference to watch when ordering is the faucet drilling, not the size.
