American Standard 3461511.02 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Is the American Standard Madera 3461511 toilet a complete system, or do I have to order the flush valve separately?
It ships as a system: the Madera elongated floor mount flushometer bowl plus a touchless Selectronic piston flush valve rated 1.1 gpf/4.2 Lpf. The bowl is top spud and comes less seat, so a seat is the one piece you still need to add to finish the install. Order under MPN 3461511.02 in white.
2) Does the Madera chair height toilet meet accessible restroom rim height?
The bowl sits at a 16-1/2 inch (419 mm) rim height, which is the chair height American Standard specifies for accessible applications. Add a seat and you land in the range ADA-style installs are normally set to. That makes it the usual pick for the accessible stall when the rest of the room is standard height Maderas.
3) What happens to the touchless flush valve if the battery dies or power is lost?
You can still flush. The Selectronic piston valve has a fully mechanical manual override that works without power, so a dead battery does not put the fixture out of service. The valve runs on a CR-P2 lithium battery rated for 8 years, installed at the factory, so there is no transformer or hardwiring to plan for.
4) Does a 1.1 gpf toilet actually clear waste, or will we be double flushing?
The Madera flushometer bowl carries a maximum 1,000 gram MaP score, which is the top of the MaP test scale for waste removal. So the 1.1 gpf/4.2 Lpf flush is a genuine water saver rather than a trade off in performance, which matters when the restroom is doing hundreds of uses a day.
5) Is this a tank toilet or does it need a supply line for a flushometer?
Flushometer, not tank type. It is a floor mount flushometer bowl with a top spud, so it needs a flushometer supply drop coming down to the top of the bowl, not a wall stop and riser into a tank. If your rough-in was set for a tank type two piece, the water supply will need to be relocated.
6) Our building keeps having flushometers run on. Does this valve address that?
That is what the DynaClean wiper spring is for. An integral wiper spring cleans the refill orifice on every flush, which is the orifice that clogs and causes valve run-on. It is self cleaning, so it works without anyone opening the valve on a maintenance round.
7) What color does the Madera 3461511 toilet system come in?
White only, catalogued as 3461511.02. If you are matching existing fixtures in a facility, white is the standard commercial china color and the only one this configuration is built in.
