American Standard 2599001.02 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Does the American Standard Madera Youth bowl come with a flush valve or a tank?
Neither. The Madera Youth 2599001 is a floor-mount flushometer bowl with a top spud, so it needs a separate flushometer valve sized for 1.28 to 1.6 gpf. It also ships less seat, so budget for a seat as well. The top spud means the valve connects above the bowl at the rear rather than behind a tank.
2) What rough-in does the Madera Youth elongated bowl need?
It works on a 10 inch (254 mm) or 12 inch (305 mm) rough-in, so it drops onto either of the two common waste line locations without a special offset flange.
3) Is a 14 inch rim height toilet right for an elementary school restroom?
That is exactly what this bowl is built for. The 14 inch (356 mm) rim height is ADA and TAS compliant for children roughly 5 to 8 years old, which is the K-3 range. For older students or mixed-age restrooms you want a standard adult-height flushometer bowl instead, because a 14 inch rim is low for anyone past about third grade.
4) Will a 1.28 gpf flushometer work on this bowl, or does it require 1.6?
Either one. The bowl is rated as a High Efficiency Toilet operating anywhere from 1.28 gpf to 1.6 gpf (4.8 to 6.0 Lpf), so you can spec a 1.28 gpf valve for water conservation credit or a 1.6 gpf valve to match existing valves elsewhere in the building without changing the bowl.
5) Can it clear the waste load in a high traffic school restroom at only 1.28 gpf?
It carries a MaP score of 800 grams across the 1.28 to 1.6 gpf range, which is the top of the MaP testing scale. Flushing is a direct-fed siphon jet through a 2-1/8 inch (54 mm) fully glazed trapway, so the glazed passage resists paper hangup in heavy-use restrooms.
6) Is the bowl elongated or round front?
Elongated. It is a floor-mounted elongated bowl, so when you lay out stall depth and door swing, use elongated dimensions rather than round-front. Seats must also be ordered elongated, since the fixture ships less seat.
7) What finish does the Madera Youth 2599001 come in?
White only, ordered as part number 2599001.02. There is no color option on this model, so all fixtures across a facility will match.
8) Does this toilet sweat in an unconditioned restroom?
The Madera Youth bowl has a built-in condensation channel, which catches moisture forming on the china in humid or unconditioned spaces so it does not drip onto the floor. That is worth noting on a gym or field-house restroom where slab moisture is a slip concern.
