American Standard 6409171.002 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Will the American Standard Monterrey kitchen faucet connect to standard 1/2 inch supplies?
The Monterrey top mount kitchen faucet uses 1/2 inch (13 mm) male threaded inlet shanks with brass coupling nuts, so it mates to standard 1/2 inch supply connections. The coupling nuts come with the faucet.
2) Does the Monterrey gooseneck spout swivel, or is it fixed?
Both, your choice. The gooseneck spout is field-convertible between rigid and swivel, so the installer sets it at the sink. Reach is 8 inches (203 mm), which is what decides whether it clears the bowl centerline on a deep or multi-compartment sink.
3) Does the Monterrey 6409171 come with a side spray, or is that ordered separately?
A color-matched side spray is included with the 6409171. You do not order the spray as a separate line item.
4) Is this American Standard Monterrey faucet a low-flow model for a commercial kitchen or restroom spec?
Flow is 1.5 gpm (5.7 L/min) through a pressure-compensating aerator, meaning the rate holds steady as line pressure varies. That is the number to put against a facility water-conservation spec.
5) Are the wrist blade handles on the Monterrey faucet suitable for a school, healthcare, or other high-abuse setting?
The wrist blade handles are vandal-resistant and carry red and blue temperature indicators, and the valves are washerless ceramic discs rather than rubber washers. That combination is why this one gets specified for institutional kitchens and prep sinks where handles get abused and drips generate work orders.
6) Does this Monterrey faucet mount on the sink deck or on the wall?
It is a top mount (deck mount) faucet, so it drops through the holes in the sink deck or countertop. If your opening is plumbed for a wall-mount body, this is the wrong configuration.
7) What finish does the American Standard Monterrey 6409171 kitchen faucet come in?
Chrome, ordered as part number 6409171.002. The side spray is finished to match the faucet.
