American Standard M964823-0020A – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What exactly comes in the American Standard M964823 pop-up rod and cable assembly?
It's the pop-up rod and cable assembly, sold as a complete pop-up assembly repair part under American Standard part number M964823-0020A in chrome. It is the linkage that raises and lowers the stopper, not a drain body or stopper kit, so if the tailpiece or flange is what failed you need a different part.
2) What finish does the American Standard M964823 pop-up rod come in?
Chrome only. The single orderable version is M964823-0020A, so if the rest of your trim is brushed nickel or matte black there is no matching finish in this part number.
3) Is this pop-up rod assembly for a sink drain or for a toilet?
American Standard lists the M964823 assembly under a toilet application in its plumbing line. Order it as the American Standard replacement for the fixture it's specified on rather than assuming it will serve a lavatory drain lift rod.
4) I manage several buildings with American Standard fixtures. Is this a part worth stocking?
The rod and cable assembly is the wear item in a pop-up mechanism, and it ships as one chrome part number, M964823-0020A, which makes it simple to keep on the shelf and standardize across identical American Standard fixtures. It's a mechanical part, so swapping it does not disturb the drain or waste connections.
