It's the lift rod repair kit for an American Standard lavatory faucet pop-up drain assembly. The rod is the vertical pull behind the spout that raises and lowers the drain stopper. If the stopper on a sink won't hold up or down because the rod is bent, corroded, or the finish has failed, this is the replacement part rather than a whole new drain body.

Chrome only, ordered as M962810-0020A. It will match polished chrome trim on an American Standard lavatory faucet. If the faucet in the bathroom is brushed nickel, bronze, or a matte black, a chrome rod will stand out at the spout, so that opening needs a rod in the matching finish instead.

Just the lift rod portion of the pop-up assembly, sold as a repair part. It does not include the drain body, tailpiece, stopper, or the pivot rod and clevis under the sink. If the drain body itself is leaking or the stopper seal has gone, a full pop-up drain assembly is what's needed instead of this rod.

Lift rods are matched to the faucet body: the hole diameter through the deck, the overall rod length, and the threading where the finial and the strap clevis attach all differ by manufacturer and by faucet series.
