American Standard M962566-2950A – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What exactly is the American Standard M962566 pop-up rod, and what part of the faucet does it replace?
It's the lift rod for an American Standard Moments widespread lavatory faucet, the vertical rod that pulls up behind the spout to open and close the drain stopper. It's a faucet pop-up assembly component, so it replaces a bent, stripped, or mismatched-finish lift rod without touching the drain body or the faucet itself.
2) Will this lift rod fit an American Standard centerset faucet?
No. This rod is specified for the Moments widespread configuration, where the spout and the two handles mount separately. A centerset or single-hole faucet uses a different lift rod length and geometry, so order the rod called out for that faucet model instead.
3) Which finishes does the American Standard Moments pop-up rod come in?
Two: stainless steel, part number M962566-0750A, and brushed nickel, part number M962566-2950A. Order by the part number that matches the rest of your faucet trim, since the rod sits in plain view behind the spout and a finish mismatch shows immediately.
4) I'm a property manager with several Moments faucets that won't hold the stopper up. Is the lift rod the part I need?
Often yes, but check the linkage first. If the rod itself is bent, corroded, or the finish is flaking, this replacement rod solves it. If the stopper drops while the rod stays up, the problem is usually the clevis strap or the pivot rod in the drain body below the sink, not this vertical lift rod.
5) Does the M962566 pop-up rod come with the drain and stopper, or just the rod?
Just the rod. This is the lift rod on its own, a pop-up assembly component rather than a complete drain kit. If you also need the drain body, tailpiece, stopper, and clevis linkage, order a full pop-up drain assembly.
6) Do I need to pull the faucet out to replace a lift rod on a widespread lavatory faucet?
No. The rod drops in from the top through the hole behind the spout, and the only work below the sink is loosening the setscrew on the clevis strap, sliding the old rod out, and clamping the new one at the same height. The faucet body stays mounted.
