The SMGOPIS side-mount sensor retrofit is built for piston-type flush valves from American Standard, Sloan GEM, and Zurn MetroFlush. It will not suit a diaphragm valve, so check the valve body you are converting first. If the fixture is a urinal or diaphragm-style closet valve, this is not the kit.

No. The side-mount sensor retrofit installs without shutting off the water supply, which is what makes it practical in an occupied restroom where you cannot take a whole bank of fixtures offline. It replaces the manual handle side of an existing piston valve rather than the valve body.

No wiring. The kit is battery powered and ships with four C-sized alkaline batteries, so there is no transformer, no conduit, and no electrician needed. That is the main reason facilities pick a battery sensor conversion over a hardwired sensor valve.

That is exactly what this part does. It retrofits a manual piston flushometer to automatic sensor operation, so the existing valve body, supply, and vacuum breaker stay in place. For a property manager standardizing a restroom on touchless flushing, it is a far smaller job than swapping complete flush valves, and it cuts hand contact on the handle.

Toilet application. The SMGOPIS retrofit is listed for toilet (water closet) piston flush valves. For a urinal conversion you want the urinal-specific sensor retrofit, since the flush volume and valve are different.

The retrofit arrives with its mounting hardware and the four C batteries required to run the sensor, so no separate power kit or battery purchase is needed on day one. Expect to reuse the existing piston valve body and supply; only the manual actuator side is replaced.
