American Standard 8888421.002 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Does the Serin tub spout have a diverter for a shower head?
No diverter. The Serin 6-3/4 inch spout is a plain tub filler, so it is for tub-only installs or for systems where the diverter sits in the valve body. If you need the spout itself to divert to the shower, this is the wrong part.
2) How long is the Serin tub spout and will it clear my tub deck?
It measures 6-3/4 inches to the center of the stream straightener. That length is measured from the wall, so on a standard tub with a rolled rim the water lands inside the tub. If your wall tile or a thick surround pushes the spout face out, subtract that build-out when checking the drop point.
3) Is the American Standard Serin tub spout metal or plastic inside?
Brass construction, not plastic with a metal skin. For rental turns and multi-family work that matters, since a brass body holds thread on the IPS nipple through repeated replacements and resists the cracking you get with plastic spouts.
4) What finish does the American Standard Serin 8888421 tub spout come in?
Chrome, ordered as part number 8888421.002. The .002 suffix is American Standard's chrome designation, which makes it straightforward to match against other Serin trim carrying the same suffix.
