American Standard 012157-0020A – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What is the American Standard 012157-0020A skirt adapter used for?
It's a short faucet handle skirt adapter, a faucet repair part. The skirt adapter is the piece that sits between the handle and the faucet body, so it's what you replace when the handle no longer seats properly or the decorative skirt is damaged. It is sold as a single chrome-finish part.
2) Is this skirt adapter a complete faucet handle or just a component?
Just the component. It's the skirt adapter only, not a handle, cartridge, or stem. If the handle itself is cracked or the faucet is leaking, you need the handle or cartridge separately; this part only addresses the skirt adapter.
3) How big is the American Standard short faucet skirt adapter and how much does it weigh?
The published dimensions are 10.433 x 4.1 x 1 inches and the weight is 0.06 pounds. Those outer figures reflect the packaged part, so the adapter itself is a small, light trim piece, easy to keep a few on hand for a maintenance cart.
4) Can a property manager use this American Standard adapter on both residential and commercial faucets?
It's catalogued by American Standard as a repair part for faucet applications rather than being split into residential-only or commercial-only. The deciding factor is whether the faucet model takes the short skirt adapter, part 012157-0020A, not the building type.
