American Standard 735219-400.222 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Is this just the lid, or does it include the tank and flush valve?
Lid only. The 735219-400 is the china tank cover for the Town Square S toilet, with no tank, no fill valve, no flush valve and no trim included. If your tank itself is cracked or you need working internals, that is a separate order.
2) I manage apartments and need a replacement lid after a breakage. How do I confirm this is the right one?
Check the number molded inside the tank on the unbroken unit, or on the back wall of the tank. Ordering by the tank number rather than by looks is the only reliable way, because several American Standard elongated two-piece toilets share a similar square profile but not the same lid footprint. This cover matches the Town Square S tank in the 12-inch rough configuration.
3) Do toilet tank lids need any hardware or sealant to install?
No. A china tank cover like the Town Square S lid simply sets into the rim of the tank under its own weight, so there are no bolts, gaskets or adhesive to buy. Set it down square and flat; it should not rock. On models with a lid-mounted flush actuator, transfer the actuator from the old lid, but a standard lever-flush Town Square S lid is a straight drop-on.
