American Standard T455430.243 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Does the American Standard T455430 diverter trim kit include the valve body?
No. The Town Square S T455430 is trim only, sold LESS valve. You get the metal wall escutcheon and metal lever handle; the rough-in valve has to be ordered separately, and it needs to be an R422 or 433 platform valve for this trim to mount.
2) Which American Standard rough valves does the Town Square S diverter trim fit?
It fits the R422 and 433 valve platforms. If the valve already roughed into the wall is one of those, this trim drops onto it. Any other valve body and the trim will not mate up.
3) Can I use this trim kit to refresh a shower without opening the wall?
If the existing rough valve is an American Standard R422 or 433, yes, the T455430 is a trim-only swap and the valve stays in the wall. If the buried valve is anything else, you are into a wall opening and a new valve body, not just a trim change.
4) What finishes does the Town Square S single-handle diverter trim come in?
Five: Chrome (T455430.002), Polished Nickel (T455430.013), Matte Black (T455430.243), Brushed Nickel (T455430.295), and Brushed Cool Sunrise (T455430.GN0). Ordering the same suffix across the tub filler, shower trim and lavatory faucet keeps a bathroom matched.
5) Will this diverter trim match the rest of my Town Square S bath fittings?
Yes, it is built to coordinate with the Town Square S faucet collection, so the escutcheon and lever styling line up with the other pieces in that line. Match the finish suffix and the trim reads as part of the same set.
6) Is the American Standard T455430 handle and escutcheon metal or plastic?
Both metal. The wall escutcheon is metal and the lever handle is metal, which is what you want in rental or hospitality baths where plastic handles crack and get replaced on a cycle.
7) Is the T455430 a mixing valve trim or a diverter trim?
It is a diverter trim, single handle. The handle directs water between outlets (for example tub spout to showerhead or a second shower outlet); it is not the temperature mixing control. A shower that needs both functions needs the mixing valve trim as a separate item.
