The Townsend 64 x 34-inch single threshold base is ADA compliant when it is installed according to ADA guidelines, so the compliance depends on your install, not just the base. It uses a linear trench drain rather than a center drain, which keeps the floor slope running one direction. Note it is a single threshold base, so it has a curb on the entry side; if your project needs a true zero-curb roll-in, this is not that base.

No drain is included. You order the drain body separately, but the removable brushed stainless steel trench drain cover does come with the base. Budget the drain assembly into the job when you spec this one.

The nominal size is 64 by 34 inches, but the base itself measures 69.063 inches long by 39.563 inches wide by 6 inches high, because the integral tiling flange runs past the pan on three sides. Frame to the outside dimensions, not the nominal, or the unit will not drop into the opening.

There is an integral 1-inch tiling and water retention flange on three sides. Your backer board or wall surround laps over the outside of that flange so water sheds back into the pan. That is what makes it an alcove-style install: three walls, one open threshold side.

American Standard classifies the Townsend base as a residential product. It holds up well in apartment and condo bathrooms, and the fungi and bacterial resistant surface with easy cleaning suits a unit turnover, but if your spec calls for a commercially rated pan, this is not classified as one.

The surface is repairable and renewable, so a scratch or a chip taken during the rest of the trim-out can be refinished rather than forcing a full replacement. It is also stain and impact resistant, plus UV resistant and self-extinguishing.
