Baldwin Reserve Columbus Single Cylinder Keyed Entry Handleset with Traditional Rose

The Columbus handleset works on either a 2-3/8 or 2-3/4 inch backset, so it drops onto the two standard residential preps without redrilling the cross bore. The edge bore is 1 inch, which is the standard latch bore on a prepped door. If your door is already bored for a common residential entry lock and deadbolt, the handleset lands on that prep.

Only if you choose a lever for the inside trim. The curve, decorative and federal levers are each ordered left hand or right hand, so you need to know which way the door swings and which side the hinges are on before you order. The three knob choices (ellipse, round and traditional) are not handed and work either way. The exterior grip itself is not a handing decision.

Yes. Keyed alike or keyed different is a selection at order time, and if you already have Baldwin cylinders on the property you can supply the existing key code so the new handleset matches. Baldwin ships the 5-pin C keyway as standard, so keying alike works with other Baldwin C keyway locks. Order everything you want on one key in a single order so the factory pins them together.

Both halves are included. You get the exterior grip with the keyed cylinder and the interior trim, so it's a complete entrance set out of one box. You do choose the interior knob or lever style and the rose shape when you order. The Yale Real Living BYRD226CBARX Assure Lock puts a Wi-Fi and Bluetooth touchscreen deadbolt behind a Ridgefield handleset for 1-3/4 inch to 2-1/4 inch doors, and the BYRD226NRRX is the same Ridgefield handleset with a standalone touchscreen deadbolt for doors that have no network to join.

Single cylinder means a key outside and a thumbturn inside. The Columbus is that configuration: the deadbolt throws with a key on the exterior or the turn on the interior. That's what most entries use and it's what fire egress favors, since nobody needs a key to get out. The tradeoff is that a door with glass in it or a sidelight within arm's reach can be defeated by breaking the glass and reaching the turn. If that's your opening, a double cylinder (key both sides) is the answer, and check local egress code first.

Yes. The interior comes in the same finish as the exterior by default, but split finish is available if you specify both finishes when ordering. That's how you match a dark exterior to a painted or nickel interior scheme. Eight finishes to pick from: polished brass PVD, satin brass PVD, polished nickel PVD, venetian bronze, satin nickel, matte antique nickel, satin black and polished chrome.
