Blanco 226828 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Will the Blanco 226828 grid fit the small bowl of a Performa 60/40 sink?
No. The 226828 is cut for the LARGE bowl of the Blanco Performa 60/40 double bowl sink only. The 60/40 bowls are different sizes, so the large-bowl grid will not sit correctly in the 40 side. If you need the smaller side protected, order the grid Blanco lists for the small bowl of that same Performa 60/40 model.
2) Is this a bottom grid or a floating grid?
It is a bottom grid. The stainless grid sits on the floor of the sink basin and lets water drain underneath it, so pots and dishes never touch the sink surface. Blanco also sells floating grids that sit up at the rim for prep and drying; this is not one of those, though it does double as an in-sink drying rack for glassware and plates.
3) Will the grid block the drain in my Performa sink?
No. The grid has a rear drain opening so the drain stays accessible with the grid in place, and the open design lets water pass underneath rather than pooling on top.
4) Will a stainless sink grid scratch the bottom of the sink?
The 226828 is built with non-skid protective feet and side bumpers, so the stainless frame doesn't ride directly on the basin floor or knock against the sidewalls. That is the point of a fitted grid: the cookware hits the grid instead of the sink.
5) Can this sink grid go in the dishwasher, and will it rust?
Dishwasher safe, and made from corrosion-resistant stainless steel. For a rental turn or a multi-family unit where cleaning is done in batches, that means the grid can be run through a machine rather than scrubbed by hand.
6) Do I need anything else to install this grid?
Nothing. It's a drop-in accessory, no hardware, no plumbing changes. Set it in the large bowl and it rests on its own feet. If you want to build out the sink further, Blanco makes matching colanders, cutting boards and floating grids for the same basin.
