Blanco 237144 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Which Blanco sink does the 237144 grid actually fit?
The 237144 grid is cut for the LARGE bowl of the Blanco Formera 60/40 double bowl kitchen sink, model 442769. It is not a universal grid, so it will not size correctly in the small bowl or in other Blanco sink models. If you are outfitting both bowls of a Formera 60/40, this covers one side only and you'll need the matching small bowl grid as a second item.
2) Will a sink grid scratch or block the drain in the bottom of the bowl?
No. The Blanco 237144 grid has a rear drain opening so the drain stays clear and accessible, and it sits on non-skid protective feet with side bumpers so it doesn't slide around and mark the bowl. Water drains underneath it, so you can rinse dishes over the top without pooling.
3) Does the Blanco 237144 need any mounting hardware or install work?
None. It's a bottom grid that simply sets into the large bowl of the Formera 60/40 and rests on its own feet. No brackets, no drilling, nothing to plumb. A single stainless steel finish is the only option, so there is nothing else to specify when ordering.
4) Bottom grid or a floating grid - which one do I want for a Blanco sink?
A bottom grid like the 237144 lies on the floor of the bowl and its job is to keep pots, plates and utensils off the sink surface while water drains beneath. A floating grid sits up at or near the rim and turns the bowl into workspace or a drying shelf. They do different jobs and Blanco makes both, along with colanders and cutting boards that share the same sink, so plenty of buyers run a bottom grid full time and add the others as needed.
5) Is this sink grid stainless steel, and will it rust in a rental kitchen?
It's made from corrosion-resistant stainless steel, which is why it holds up as a permanent in-bowl bottom rack rather than a temporary mat. For property managers turning units, it also goes in the dishwasher for cleaning between tenants.
6) Can I use the 237144 as a drying rack instead of a countertop rack?
Yes, that's a normal second use for it. Because the grid holds items above the bowl floor and water runs out underneath to the drain, glassware, utensils and plates can drip dry in the sink instead of on the counter.
