Blanco 442228 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What color is the Blanco 442228 strainer, and will it match my sink?
The 442228 is the Metallic Gray version, color-matched to Blanco SILGRANIT sinks in Metallic Gray. Blanco makes these strainers in colors that coordinate with the SILGRANIT range, so if your sink is a different SILGRANIT color you want the matching part number instead of this one.
2) Is the Blanco 442228 a sink grid or a drain basket?
It is the drain basket strainer that sits in the sink's 3.5 inch drain opening, not a bottom grid that rests in the bowl. If you are looking for the protective rack for the base of the sink, that is a separate accessory.
3) Can I use this Blanco strainer to hold water in the sink, or does it only screen debris?
Both. The basket seals tight enough to hold water in the bowl, and it can be set to let water drain through while catching food scraps, which is what you want during prep. It lifts out by hand for rinsing.
4) Does this Blanco strainer only work on SILGRANIT sinks, or will it fit a stainless steel sink too?
Fit is determined by the drain opening, not the sink material, so it will physically seat in any kitchen sink with a standard 3.5 inch opening, stainless included. The reason to choose this one is the color match to SILGRANIT; on a stainless bowl a Metallic Gray basket will read as a contrast rather than a match.
5) For a multi-family or hospitality kitchen refresh, is this a part I can standardize on?
Yes, for units fitted with Blanco SILGRANIT sinks in Metallic Gray. Part number 442228 is one strainer, so order per bowl, and double-bowl sinks take two. It is made in the United States, which matters on jobs with domestic-sourcing requirements.
